LASEV provides free civil legal services to low-income residents of Accomack, Chesapeake, Gloucester, Hampton, James City, Mathews, Middlesex, Newport News, Norfolk, Northampton, Poquoson, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg and Yorktown.

We accept many types of civil cases including, but not limited to, the following:

• Divorce/Protective Orders
• Custody/Visitation/Child Support
• Landlord/Tenant Matters
• SSI Appeals
• Contracts and Warranties
• Collections
• Public Benefit Denials
• Education
• Powers of Attorney/Wills

We do not offer legal assistance in criminal or traffic matters. In these cases, you may contact the Virginia State Bar's Lawyer Referral Service at (800) 552-7977, the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service at (757) 623-0132, or your local Public Defender's Office.

Our services are by application only. An application may be completed over the phone or in person. We do not accept applications by e-mail. Please call Central Intake at (757) 827-5078 or (866) LEGL-AID or visit one of our offices.

If you are with another legal aid program and you would like to refer a client to LASEV, please fax their intake forms to Central Intake at (757) 627-7583.
