2006 - 2007 Program Results from Equal Justice Works around the United States!!!

If you've ever wondered why you track all that data and write all those reports, take a look at the final report from the 2006-2007 program results.  Here's what your predecessors (and you 2nd year folks) achieved, and the case we make:

Our AmeriCorps programs are effective

  • 34 AmeriCorps Attorneys recruited and supported 2,663 law students and 1,691 private and corporate lawyer volunteers, or 128 volunteers per person.
  • 382 members (AmeriCorps Attorneys and Summer Corps members) and their volunteers served 95,029 people altogether, including 5,056 who were affected by the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region.

Our programs transform communities and change lives.

  • AmeriCorps Attorneys expand organizational capacity.  Last year AmeriCorps Attorneys worked with 354 organizations and managed 1,848 legal clinics.
  • Of the surveyed law student volunteers, 96.8% reported a positive experience and 87.5% indicated a willingness to volunteer again in the future.

Our programs are efficient.

  • We used all of the funds we received.  In 2006-2007, Equal Justice Works was granted 385 AmeriCorps slots and filled 382 of them, a 99.2% "fill-rate."  Your work here is particularly impressive: 96% of our members successfully completed terms.  All of the 06-07 AmeriCorps Attorneys at your sites have completed full terms.  This has to be an AmeriCorps record.
